Called by Grace: A Life Chosen by God

“But then God called me by His grace, and chose me from my birth to be His.” – Galatians 1:15 (TPT).

There’s a beautiful simplicity in this verse. It’s a reminder that God’s call on our lives is not random. It is intentional, personal, and rooted in His grace.  Before we even took our first breath, God already had a purpose for our lives. This truth resonates deeply with me, as it reminds us that our lives are not accidents, nor are they shaped by chance.

Chosen Before Birth

The phrase "chose me from my birth" is humbling. It speaks of a divine plan that existed long before I did. Before we took our first breath, God already had a purpose for our lives.  God, in His infinite wisdom, carefully knit us together in our mother’s womb, knowing every detail of who we would become (Psalm 139:13-16).

This is comforting and should give you the confidence if you’ve ever felt like you don’t measure up, like you’re not enough, or that your life doesn’t matter. You were chosen—not because of what you’ve done, but because of who God is.

It’s All About Grace

The word “grace” is at the heart of this verse. It’s not our works, talents, or merits that make us worthy of God’s call—it’s His unearned and undeserved favour. Grace isn't about being good enough, getting everythinh right or checking all the right boxes. It’s about God loving us even when we don’t feel lovable.

This truth is freeing. We don’t have to exhaust ourselves trying to earn God’s approval or anyone else’s. His grace covers us completely—flaws and all.

You Have a Purpose

God’s call isn’t random or aimless. Just like Paul had a mission, we each have one too. It might look different for everyone, and that’s okay.

Maybe your purpose is to love and care for your family, to shine His light at work, to use your creatve gifts, or to make a difference in your community. Whatever it is, it’s uniquely yours, designed by Him.

The key is not to compare your journey to others but to focus on where God has placed you and how He’s equipped you.

A Personal Reflection

When I look back on my life, I can see moments where God’s grace carried me, even when I didn’t realise it. There were times I felt lost or like I wasn’t enough, but now I can see God working in the background, gently reminding me that I am chosen.

Maybe you’ve felt that way too. Maybe you’ve wondered if God really has a plan for you. If so, let this verse be a reminder: You are chosen, loved, and called—not because of anything you’ve done, but because God’s grace is that amazing.

Let this truth settle in your heart today. You are not here by chance. You are here because God chose you, and His grace is enough to guide you every step of the way.
