Living a life purpose

Luke 16:1–13 There are some passages of Scripture that leave me scratching my head. Luke 16, the Parable of the Shrewd Manager, has always been one of them. At first glance, it almost sounds as though Jesus is praising dishonesty. But as I spent time reading and reflecting, I realised that wasn't His message at all. The manager knew his time was running out. He acted with urgency. He thought ahead. He made decisions based on what was coming next rather than simply living for the moment. Jesus wasn't commending his dishonesty—He was highlighting his foresight. That made me stop and ask myself a difficult question. Do I live with the same urgency and intentionality when it comes to eternity? Living as though tomorrow will always come It's so easy to believe there will always be another day. Another day to pray. Another day to read my Bible. Another day to call that person God has placed on my heart. Another day to encourage someone. Another day to serve....

In John 9:1–3, Jesus reminds us that suffering is not always punishment for sin. Sometimes our struggles become the very place where God reveals His power, grace, and glory. God’s protection does not mean a life without hardship, but the assurance that He is with us through every trial. When the disciples saw the man born blind, they immediately asked Jesus who had sinned—the man or his parents. Like them, we often assume that hardship must mean we have done something wrong. But Jesus answered differently: “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” — John 9:3 Jesus shifted the focus from blame to purpose. Not every struggle is punishment. Sometimes suffering becomes the place where God’s glory is revealed. Through weakness, pain, and difficult seasons, God can show His power, deepen our faith, and use our lives as testimonies of His grace. This time of year always makes me pause. It’s more than just a date, it’s a moment filled with emotion, reflection, and deep gratitude. I think back to the day my son came into this world… a world that, in many ways, had already decided what he could and couldn’t be before he even took his first breath. But God had the final say. By His grace and mercy, he fought his way into this world. And that fight didn’t end there, if anything, it was just the beginning of a journey that would require strength, patience, and faith. Wow—26 years! Where has the time gone? As I reflect on the incredible journey so far, I’m filled with gratitude, pride, and awe at the young man my son has become. The first ten years of our journey were filled with discovery. I was navigating the world of raising a child with a learning disability and on the autism spectrum. I threw myself into countless training workshops, determined to understand the unique and wonderful person you are. I wanted to equip myself with the right tools to be the best mum I could be for you. It wasn’t easy, but I thank God for His wisdom, His guidance, and the amazing friends He placed around me during those formative years. Abba Father, life is a precious gift from you and I am thankful and full of gratitude for all you have done for me.
