Developing a closer relationship with God


I am always thinking about my relationship with God and how I was doing in developing a closer relationship with him. To help me put everything in perspective and determine how my day with God is going, I take time out to ask myself the following questions:

How have I been interacting with God throughout my day – I’m I constantly aware of him, I’m I conscious that he is always with me, I’m I talking to him constantly.

Am I depending on God – I’m I depending on him and not myself, I’m I asking for him for guidance, I’m I asking him for wisdom in sticky situations.

Am I trusting God – I’m I worried or I’m I assured that He will do what He says concerning me, I’m I assured that He has got my back, I’m I focusing on him, his majesty, his greatness or I’m I focusing on my problems, I’m I assured that my God is bigger than any problem I’m facing

Am I obeying God in every situation – I’m I doing things my way or God’s way, I’m I doing what he tells me to do in His words or I’m I ignoring His words, I’m I putting God’s will in my life first or I’m I putting my plans first.

Some days are good, some not so good but I am determined to make each day count.

What’s in Your Cup? Learning to Overflow With Thankfulness

Life has a funny way of revealing what’s really inside us. Imagine this: you’re walking back from the office kitchen with a cup of coffee. Someone bumps into you and—splat!—coffee everywhere. You spilled coffee because coffee was in your cup. If it had been tea, tea would have spilled instead. That moment teaches us something powerful: when life bumps us—through challenges, stress, or unexpected situations—whatever is in our hearts tends to spill out. That’s why Paul encourages us in Colossians 2:6-7 to live rooted in Christ: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Being “rooted and built up in Him” means our hearts are filled with Christ’s love and strength. God’s Word is a gift that renews the mind. At the dead ends of life, in the darkness we never saw coming, His Word steps in like a bright light cutting through every shadow. From the very beginning, God’s voice has always made a way where there seemed to be no way. At the edge of the Red Sea, when the Israelites were trapped between deep waters and a relentless enemy, God spoke — and the sea opened. His voice carved a path through the impossible. “Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.” — Psalm 77:19 That is who God is. His Word doesn’t always explain every detail, but it always guides. It doesn’t always prevent the struggle, but it never leaves us to face it alone.
