Week 1 - What on Earth Am I Here For Journal

Day 1 - It All Starts with God

My life begins and ends with God and He created me for a purpose. I was made for God and life is all about letting God use me for his purposes, not using him for my own purpose. I was made by God and for God.

Colossians 1:16b - Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in Him.

Day 2 - I  Am Not an Accident

I am not an accident, I was planned and I was created as a special object of God's love. My personality, my background and physical apperance was all custom made by God. Nothing is a mistake, I am the way I am because God created and made me that way and it is for a purpose. Stop wishing I was like someone else. God made me unique.

Ephesians 1:4 - Long before He laid down the earth's foundation, He had me in mind, He settled on me as the focus of His love

Day 3 - What Drives My life?

Don't allow fear to drive my life. God's purpose is not limited by my circumstances or past memories. I should not let fear which is a self imposed prison stop me from becoming who God called me to be. Move against fear with the weapons of faith and love.

Allow God's love to be the driving force of my life. If I know God loves me I should trust him.

1 John 4: 18 - Well formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life - fear of death, fear of judgment is one not yet fully formed in love.

Day 4 - I Was Made to Last Forever

This earth is not my home, it is not my final destination. Heaven is my home, my final destination so everything I do, the way I live my life should be focused on heaven. Everything I do now on earth has eternal consequences. There is more to life than just here and now.

1 John 2:17 - The world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God you will last forever.

Day 5 - Seeing Life from God's View

The way I see my life shapes my life. I will change the way I view life and see my life the way God sees life. Life is not a series of battles I have to overcome but a life of test, trust and a temporary assignment. My character is both developed and revealed by tests. I am always being constantly tested by God so He can see my reactions or how I respond to people, problems, success, conflict, illness, disappointments and loss. God is more interested in my character than my comfort.

In my own life, God has tested me - the loss of my parents, my son's disability, infidelity, divorce. I can honestly say that my character and faith was developed through all these tests. Because life is a test, nothing that happens is insignificant. Every incident has significance for my character development.

God wants us to pass the test of life. As a child, I didn't like tests in school, some I passed and some I failed. Life on earth is a series of test but God wants me to pass these tests. God has promised to give me the grace to handle them and a way out so I  am guaranteed to pass the tests.

1 Corinthians 10:13 - God keeps his promises and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm, at the time you are put to the test, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

Day 6 -Life Is a temporary Assignment

This earth is not my home, heaven is my home, my final destination. So don't fix your eyes on things that are temporary, fix your eyes on eternity. I have to change my priorities - it is not about what is happening here on earth, because this is only temporary. My focus, my priorities should be heaven. Don't live to create an earthly legacy but an heavenly legacy.

Psalm 39: 4 - Lord remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away.

Day 7 - The Reason for Everything

It is all for Him. I exist for God's glory, to bring glory to God. I bring glory to God by worshipping him. Worship is  a lifestyle of enjoying God, loving God and giving myself to God to be used for his purpose. I bring glory to God by loving other believers ie loving the family of God. I bring glory to God by becoming more like Christ - in the way thinks, feels, says and acts. I bring glory to God by serving others with my gifts - use my gifts and talents to serve others. I bring glory to God by telling others about Him - share God's love and truth with people.
