Move do not hesitate

At dawn the next morning the angels became insistent. “Hurry,” they said to Lot. “Take your wife and your two daughters who are here. Get out right now, or you will be swept away in the destruction of the city!”  When Lot still hesitated, the angels seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city, for the Lord was merciful. Genesis 19:15-16 

When I read this I was dumbfounded by the reaction of Lot. God sent him a message and told him that everyone and everything in the city he was living will be destroyed so he should leave. What did Lot do, leave. No he hesitated even though he knew the consequences of staying. Why did he hesitate, was he afraid of the unknown, did he not trust God. But God was still merciful to Lot, God’s angels seized the hands of Lot and his family and rushed them to safety.

God challenged me and told me that I also do this. When God lays something on my heart I sometimes hesitate and in some cases I don’t do it out of fear of the unknown.

There have been times when God has been so merciful that He causes things to be uncomfortable that I will have no choice but to do what I need to do. This is not always the case; we need to learn to move when we are absolutely sure we heard from God. Moving is an act of faith and it confirms our absolute trust in God.

God sent Moses to be the deliverer of his people. Moses also hesitated but God assured him that he will be there with him and gave Him all he needed to accomplish his task. That is the God we serve.

We must trust our Heavenly Father in all things. He will never lead us to a place and then just leave us there all alone. He has promised to be with us at all times and He will always put things in place to help us. All we have to do is move and trust Him.
