Different, Not Less – A Mother’s Reflection
This time of year always makes me pause.
It’s more than just a date, it’s a moment filled with emotion, reflection, and deep gratitude. I think back to the day my son came into this world… a world that, in many ways, had already decided what he could and couldn’t be before he even took his first breath.
But God had the final say.
By His grace and mercy, he fought his way into this world. And that fight didn’t end there, if anything, it was just the beginning of a journey that would require strength, patience, and faith.
It hasn’t been an easy road. There have been beautiful moments, but also challenging ones, times of uncertainty, frustration, and exhaustion. But when I look back now, I can clearly see God’s hand over his life. Where others saw limitations, God saw purpose. Where others expected less, God was working on something greater.
So many things that come naturally to others, he has had to learn with effort and determination. Progress hasn’t always been straightforward. At times, it has felt like one step forward and two steps back.
But one thing has remained constant, he never gives up.
Even when people doubted him.
Even when he was made to feel like he wasn’t enough.
Even when the path ahead wasn’t clear.
He kept going.
He held onto his dreams, even in spaces that didn’t always make room for him. And that kind of quiet strength, that resilience, is something I deeply admire.
His creativity is one of the things I treasure most. The ideas, the imagination, the way he expresses himself, it’s all part of who he is. I truly believe God has placed something special inside him. And as I watch him grow, especially through his drawings and his vision for his future, I can see those gifts beginning to unfold.
I believe, with all my heart, that he will fly.
Not because the journey has been easy, but because he has shown time and time again that he has the strength to rise, no matter what comes his way.
His life is a testimony of God’s power, His grace, and His faithfulness. He inspires me more than he knows. I see his strength. I see his growth. I see the man he is becoming.
And I am so proud to be his mum.
This time of year will always be emotional for me, but more than anything, it reminds me that God is the author of his story, faithfully working all things together for his good according to His purpose, and that his future is filled with hope, purpose, and promise.
